The conversion of agricultural land to mining is a phenomenon that generally occurs in various growth-oriented development activities. For this reason, this research aims to understand the practice of agricultural land conversion to mining as well as the social and economic impacts on the community, especially for the people of Lelilef Waibulen Village as part of the impact of nickel mining. The research used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. The snowball sampling method was used and tested using the triangulation method. The results showed that the practice of agricultural land conversion to mining in the initial process took place due to government intervention through regulations that designated the area as a planning area for mining development and its associated industries. The negative impacts of land conversion practices that arise are the disappearance of jobs in the agricultural and fisheries sectors, the emergence of horizontal inter-ethnic conflicts that develop, the disappearance of the long-established culture of mutual cooperation, the increasingly massive circulation of branded alcohol drinks among young people, and the environmental crisis due to air pollution and clean water difficulties. Furthermore, the positive impacts are increased employment, increased business opportunities, and increased income for the people of Lelilef Waibulen Village.Keywords: Socio-Economic, Village Community, Land Conversion, Agriculture, Mining
