This study examines the application of the True or False type of Active Learning method to improve students’ learning activities and learning outcomes in Social Studies among Grade VIII.3 students at SMP Negeri 5 Kota Ternate. The study aims to address the question of how the True or False method can improve students’ learning activities and learning outcomes in Social Studies. The study employed a Classroom Action Research design based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants consisted of 25 Grade VIII.3 students. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and tests and were analyzed descriptively to determine changes in learning activities and learning mastery, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students’ learning activities increased from 47% in Cycle I to 79% in Cycle II, representing an increase of 32 percentage points. Learning mastery also increased from 24% in Cycle I to 72% in Cycle II, with the number of students achieving the Minimum Mastery Criterion increasing from 6 to 18. These findings indicate that the True or False method can support more participatory Social Studies learning and is accompanied by improved learning achievement. In practical terms, this method can serve as an alternative active learning strategy to strengthen student engagement and support improved Social Studies learning outcomes.
