This study examines students’ perceptions and learning experiences in video-based flood mitigation learning at SMA Negeri 5 Kota Ternate. The study aims to address how students perceive the use of video media, how they experience and engage in the learning process, and what challenges arise during its implementation. A qualitative approach was employed, involving one Geography teacher and seven students from Class XI IPS.2 selected from a total of 24 students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students had positive perceptions of video-based flood mitigation learning because the visual presentation was considered engaging, clear, and helpful in following the learning material. Students demonstrated attention, enthusiasm, and active participation during the learning process and were able to respond to questions during the reflection stage. However, the repeated use of similar video and PowerPoint designs led to boredom among some students, while limited facilities constrained media implementation. These findings indicate that the pedagogical value of video depends not only on the use of technology but also on the quality and variety of media design and supporting facilities. Therefore, video-based flood mitigation learning should be designed with greater variety and integrated with learning activities to sustain student engagement.
