This study aims to analyze the welfare level of gold-mining communities in Kusubibi Village, West Bacan District, South Halmahera Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. It was conducted from February 23 to March 9, 2023, involving 70 respondents engaged in gold-mining activities. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, and were analyzed using frequency distributions, percentages, and a scoring method based on eight welfare indicators: income, household consumption or expenditure, housing conditions, housing facilities, family health, access to health services, access to education for children, and access to transportation facilities. The results showed that the welfare level of the gold-mining community in Kusubibi Village was predominantly in the moderate category. Of the 70 respondents, 58 (82.8%) were classified as having a moderate level of welfare, while 12 (17.2%) were classified as having a low level of welfare; no respondents were classified as having a high level of welfare. At the indicator level, income and household expenditure were predominantly in the moderate category, most housing conditions were semi-permanent, and family health was predominantly in the low category, whereas access to education for children was in the high category. Access to transportation facilities remained one of the aspects with relatively low conditions. The findings indicate that gold-mining activities contribute to meeting the economic and educational needs of the community, but these contributions have not been fully accompanied by improvements in health, housing quality, and accessibility.
